Job Summary
The Survey Manager leads the survey function across UECC project sites, ensuring all setting-out, control networks, as-built verification, and volume/quantity survey data are accurate, timely, and compliant with contract drawings and specifications. The role is a direct enabler of construction quality, progress certification, and claims defense — survey errors translate directly into rework cost, delay, and disputed payment certificates.
Duties and Responsibilities
? Lead, plan, and supervise the survey team (Senior Surveyors, Surveyors, Survey Technicians) across all active project sites.
? Establish and maintain primary and secondary control networks (horizontal and vertical) for each project, coordinated with the design/contract benchmarks.
? Review and approve setting-out data for structural, civil, and MEP works prior to execution to prevent construction errors.
? Validate as-built surveys against approved drawings and issue discrepancy reports to Site Engineering and QC.
? Supervise quantity/volume surveys (earthworks, cut-and-fill) used for interim payment certificates and variation claims.
? Develop and enforce survey QA/QC procedures, instrument calibration schedules, and data-recording standards across all sites.
? Coordinate with Planning, Technical Office, and Contracts departments to ensure survey deliverables align with project milestones and BOQ measurement requirements.
? Review and validate survey reports and drawings submitted by consultants/subcontractors before certification.
? Monitor workload distribution and deployment of survey teams across multiple concurrent sites.
? Evaluate technical performance of survey team members and identify training/competency gaps.
? Plan and provide on-the-job training and development for survey team members, including instrument operation and software proficiency.
? Maintain survey equipment inventory, calibration certificates, and coordinate procurement of new instruments as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
? Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying / Geomatics.
? Certification: preferred: Licensed Land Surveyor certification, Total Station / GPS-RTK vendor certifications.
? Years of Experience: 12+ years of experience in construction surveying, at least 4 years in a supervisory/managerial position on building or infrastructure projects.
? Software: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Total Station / GPS-RTK data processing software, Trimble Business Center or equivalent, Advanced Excel.
? Skills: Leadership skills, attention to detail and accuracy under pressure, analytical thinking, cross-functional coordination, decision-making under site constraints, well-planned and proactive personality.
